Last month, I noticed that when I drove my car up a moderately steep incline, I could put my foot on the gas pedal all the way to the floor and not even break 25 MPH. It seemed worse when I was at a stop light before stepping on the gas. So we took the car to the dealers, who could not find a darn thing wrong with it. They even drove it around, and of course it behaved itself.
So it seemed to be a little better lately, until Saturday. The same thing happened again. I came home and asked my husband to drive it around. Specifically, on inclines. He came home 20 minutes later, and said it was fine. Grrrrrr.....
So yesterday, we took it into our mechanic's garage (mind you, the "check engine" light has been on since Saturday). Today they called us to tell us the problem...
There is a wire that lets the car know when to give gas to the engine. There is a MOUSE NEST next to this wire. There are CHEW MARKS all over the wire.
If you READ THIS you will see why I am just sick and tired of little rodents. I live in an older home. This land was farm land 50 years ago. I don't think that the mice have ever left. And it's only getting colder. Stay tuned for the next chapter of Margaret and the mice!

Oh yuck!
Friends of ours had a mouse make a nest in their car air conditioner. Of course, they didn't know it until the mouse expired! PHEWWWWW-EEEE.
When that happened to me, all I could think of was Ace Ventura, Pet Detective when he drove with his head out the window. If I could have, I would have!
Uh oh! I don't blame you for being tired of those critters. What a nuisance they are! I hope you win out against them.
Ohhhh, noooooo! I hate it when those kinds of critter problems pop up. Yich! At least you found the problem before something serious happened!
Ugh. They are cute but mice + cars DO NOT MIX. :(
That's why I'm adamant about keeping the garage clean enough to house the cars. The mice nearly chewed through my brake line once back when we didn't have a garage. BAD BAD BAD.
So glad they caught it and it wasn't something worse.
